Here is a step by step explanation of the process of installing an artificial lawn. In addition to the steps below our specialist installers pride themselves on leaving every site free from debris and disruption, so once the work is complete all you have to do is enjoy your new artificial lawn.

Step 1

Step 1

The first step is to survey your existing lawn or play area. We assess the perimeter of the proposed site together with the surrounding area, such as patios, decking, play equipment, fencing etc. Finally, a thorough assessment of the site levels is made.

Once we have all this information we can make recommendations and suggestions in consultation with our clients in order to achieve the best possible results.

Step 2

Step 2
Excavate the existing surface to a depth of at least 100mm. This removes all existing grass, weeds and debris and takes the site down to the pre determined levels as detailed in the previous survey and assessment stage.

This ensures that the site is sound, and that all of the weeds and undergrowth are removed.

Step 3

Step 3

After levelling, the subsurface is prepared using type 1 limestone aggregate to a depth of 40mm. This is then compacted to ensure a stable long lasting base.

The entire perimeter is edged using a 2 x 2 treated timber. This ensures the sub-base material is supported and it is much harder for any weeds or worm casts to appear at the edges.

Step 4

Step 4

The top layer of the base is prepared using sharp sand to a depth of 25mm. This is then levelled and compacted to ensure a smooth surface.

Careful attention is paid to the perimeter to ensure a faultless junction between the new lawn and the surrounding surface.

Step 5

Step 5

A specially manufactured membrane is laid between the Artificial Lawn and the new base. This provides the junction between the artificial lawn material and the base.

It provides a barrier to weeds and other unwanted plants so that they do not impact upon upon the finished lawn in years to come.

Step 6

Step 6

The grass is laid into position and carefully joined if necessary, using a high tech adhesive and jointing technique. This ensures that the entire surface acts as a single piece.

Finally the new artificial grass is fixed to the wooden perimeter, thus ensuring you lawn will be stable and stay beautiful for years to come.
